Requesting to Use GPUs on IDAS for Research
GPUs on IDAS are assigned on a first come first served basis. When GPUs on IDAS run out, users won't be able to start an IDAS instance with GPU. In that case, users can wait and try again in a couple of hours.
If you are finished with your IDAS instance, we request that you shut down your IDAS server so that resources are freed up for other users.
1. Log in to the "Research" instance on IDAS - https://idas.uiowa.edu/
2. In the "Server Options" form, select the GPU type under "GPU" and select a programming language and CUDA version under "IDAS Image". Then click the "Start" button at the bottom of the form.
3. Wait a few seconds for your IDAS server to be ready.
Monitoring GPU Usage
You can monitor your GPU usage by using the following command in Terminal:
watch nvidia-smi
