Globus Online can be used to download a single file or a folder full of transfer data to your computer.

The directions below assume that you are downloading transfering data which is available via the uiowadata#data Collection or you have a Globus Online sharing link. To download transfer data from a different source, you will need to use the appropriate Collection and Path to connect to the data collection.

Download a single file

To download one file:

  1. Access the data source using Globus Online
    1. In a web browser, navigate to Globus Online by using a link to the data source which has been shared with you or visit https://app.globus.org/file-manager.
    2. When prompted to login, select "University of Iowa" from the drop-down list of organizations and then click Continue. This will redirect you to the University of Iowa login page where you can log in with your HawkID.

  2. Navigate to the file to download
    You should now be on the File Manager tab in Globus.
    If you used a sharing link to access Globus Online, you should already be connected to the appropriate Collection and Path and can continue to step 3.
    Otherwise, use the Collection and Path fields to connect to the data source and navigate through the folders so that you can see the file you want to download.

    To access storage services provided by the University of Iowa, select the Collection named "uiowadata#data". Please refer to this list of paths for storage services available via Globus.

  3. Download the file
    Click on the name of the file you want to download, so that the box to the left of the file name is checked.
    Click "Download" in the action menu.

Download multiple files or a folder

To download multiple files or a folder, you must use Globus Connect Personal on your computer.
