Create a Contact

  • Be sure to search to see if the contact exists before entering a new contact

  • To enter a new contact, click on the Contacts Tab, and click the New Button


  • We require a few basic pieces of information when creating a new contact.  The contact MUST have one of the following:
    • University ID
    • Email
    • If you don't have at least one of these pieces of information: DO NOT create a contact
  • Enter first and last name
  • Lead Source: Select what's most appropriate (Common non-marketing lead sources include Alumni Relations, Corporate Relations, and JPEC)
  • Enter in any other information you have in the appropriate fields (all of these pieces are helpful in finding duplicate contacts):
    • University ID
    • Email
    • Phone


Creating a New Contact while Creating an Affiliation

  • If you are creating an affiliation record and can't find the existing contact in Salesforce, you'll need to create a new contact
    • You can create a contact right inside the Affiliation, so you don't have to leave the screen
  • When searching for the contact, you'll see '+ New Contact.' Click on this to create the new contact record
    • Follow the basic information above on what must be included on a new contact record
    • When you are done entering in the contact information, click Save and this will bring you back into the affiliation record - make sure to save the affiliation record
